About

Hi, I’m Yasmeen. I am a writer, multimedia producer and digital content creator. My passion for storytelling has led me to work in local newsrooms, elite production studios, television sets and every other environment you could imagine. Now with YasMedia, my home office is my headquarters and the city of Atlanta is my studio.

I am a Mercer University graduate with a degree in Journalism & Media Studies, a national champion in parliamentary debate, and an avid lover of media & television. It is my goal to produce content that informs, inspires, and resonates with diverse audiences.

I developed YasMedia as a vehicle to create written and visual projects. In my writing, I strive to analyze media through a womanist lens to disrupt the current media landscape and deliver a perspective that has historically been silenced. Join me on my mission to rewrite the narrative on my SubStack publication,
Yasmeen in Focus.  If you're a visual learner, I produce video essays hosted on my YouTube channel.

I am inspired by solution-based reporting and have contributed to collaborative reporting projects covering youth violence, food insecurity, and COVID-19 with GPB. I am also the co-creator and co-host of the community and culture podcast,
Black Girl Tea Party.
